In pairs, you will give a speech with a presentation in Power point
(at least 14 slides with a brief title on it. You will have to support
the images with speech, never with a script of what you are going to say).
You will have to talk about the topics chosen based on a piece of news,
showing pictures, statistics, photographs, for at least 15 minutes.
Find your piece of news here: http://www.bbc.com/
Follow these steps:
Ø Make a summary of the piece of news you read.
Ø Explain difficult words that may come in handy for your peers.
Ø Give detailed information about: he context of the news (what happened before?
Implications/consequences? Time? Place?)
Ø Tell us the reason why you chose this piece of news. Your personal opinion and/or
point of view.
When you finish, your peers / teacher and assistant will correct the possible mistakes
and ask questions about it.
The final marks will be based on a template.
l ACCURACY (correct use of grammar and vocabulary)
l LEVEL OF LANGUAGE USED (of grammar and vocabulary)
l PRONUNCIATION
l COHERENCE AND COHESION (Clarity and logic, relevance, use of linkers,
reference pronouns, discourse markers)
l FLUENCY
If the group doesn´t have the topic prepared for the day set, they will have to
improvise and give a presentation on a piece of news of the teacher/Kevin’s choice.
